National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS)
National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) is an initiative of the Government of India aimed at promoting apprenticeship training and industry-based skill development by creating opportunities for youth to gain practical, hands-on experience across various sectors. NAPS bridges the gap between education and employment by encouraging establishments to engage apprentices, thereby enhancing employability, industry readiness, and workforce productivity in alignment with national skill development objectives.
National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) functions under the guidance of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), in collaboration with industry partners, establishments, training providers, Sector Skill Councils, and government bodies. The initiative aims to strengthen industry-led apprenticeship training, promote practical skill development, enhance employability opportunities for youth, and encourage organizations to build a skilled and future-ready workforce through structured on-the-job training programs.
Through apprenticeship training programs across diverse sectors and industries, the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) provides aspiring youth with valuable practical exposure and on-the-job learning opportunities in multiple trades and occupational roles including manufacturing, automotive, electronics, IT, healthcare, welding, and other emerging domains. The scheme facilitates structured skill development within real industrial environments, enabling apprentices to acquire industry-relevant knowledge, technical competencies, and workplace experience.
Overall, NAPS serves as a vital initiative in strengthening the apprenticeship ecosystem of India by promoting industry-driven training, enhancing employability, bridging the gap between education and employment, and developing a skilled workforce aligned with the evolving needs of industries and the nation’s economic growth.
