CGSSC Qualification
National Occupational Standards
National Occupational Standards (NOS) establish the performance benchmarks individuals must meet while performing their roles in the workplace, alongside the requisite knowledge and understanding needed for consistent achievement of these standards. Essentially, NOS serve as benchmarks for best practices. They define job functions, performance standards, and the necessary knowledge and understanding.
CGSSC is tasked with conducting comprehensive occupational mapping of the sector and developing National Occupational Standards for various job roles within the Capital Goods Sector. Additionally, it determines future training requirements, curriculum development, and standards in consultation with key stakeholders of the sector.
NOS primarily guide the development of qualifications and training programs. Employers can also utilize them for various aspects of human resource management and development such as recruitment, assessments, performance benchmarking, awards, recognition, and manpower planning.
Furthermore, NOS assist individuals in evaluating their own performance, acquiring new skills, and enhancing existing ones. They enable individuals to plan their career advancement both horizontally and vertically by assessing their competencies.
